Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has finally released his much anticipated album “Made In Lagos” in the early hours of today.
The release was meant to be on the 15th of October, however, due to the #EndSARS protest, Made in Lagos was delayed.
It has been beautiful to see Nigerians around the world coming together to protest against police brutality,” Wizkid, a.ka Starboy said. “Unity is key. The youth of Nigeria need our collective voices to continue to shine a spotlight to what is happening inside the country. I want to play my part in this and in the movement for a better Nigeria, a better place to live for ourselves, our families – our communities. We will get through this together. Together we move. #endSARS.”
The project is his fourth full-length studio album. Made in Lagos is 14-track set, which includes collaborations from other A-list Nigerian artistes like Burna Boy, Terri, Tems, and Tay Iwar, as well as international ones including Skepta, Damian Marley, and Ella Mai.
Starboy, has one of the largest fan bases in the country and they constantly show love to his music. The hashtags “#Wizkid” “#Starboy” “#MadeInLagos” “#MIL” “eau de goat” has been on the Nigeria Twitter trend table since the artiste teased the release of the album yesterday. Mixed reactions has, however, trailed this release. While ‘Wizkid FC”, his fan base is showing their undying support, others have resumed the usual argument that Davido, another iconic Nigerian artiste who’s album is scheduled be released in December, would have done a better job.
Many have now taken to social media to express their first reactions about the album.
