University of Lagos (Unilag) has directed all its students to vacate the halls of residence (hostel) latest by 12.00 noon on Thursday 15 July, 2021 in order to curb the rapid spread of covid-19 in the school.
Recall that TheNewsBeam reported that the management of the university’s medical centre in a ‘COVID-19 pandemic update’ published on the university’s website on Tuesday, confirmed that the institution is being affected by a potential third wave of coronavirus as the number of patients with COVID-19 symptoms increased.
Following this, the Dean of Students Affair (DSA) in a statement instructed all students in the halls of residence to vaccate the hostels as there would be immediate closure of hostels to check the spread of covid-19 on campus.
“To check the spread of Covid-19 on campus, the University Senate has directed that all students vacate the halls of residence latest by 12.00 noon on Thursday 15 July 2021. No access will be granted to any student after 12.00 noon on 15 July, 2021
“The hostels will be locked indefinitely therefore students are advised to move all their personal effects at once. Lectures for the rest of the semester will be delivered Virtually with effect from 26th July 2021. DSA.” The statement read.
Furthermore, the school approved the commencement of virtual lectures from 26 July, 2021.
