What you Should Know About Latifat Tijani who Got Nigeria her First Gold in the Ongoing Paralympics Games

Nigeria’s powerlifter, Latifat Tijani has gotten Nigeria her first gold medal in the women’s 45kg powerlifting at the ongoing Tokyo Paralympic Games.

A Paralympic game is a series of international contests for athletes with disabilities. It is held after the summer and winter Olympic Games.

39-year-old Tijani defeated China’s Zhe Cui to lift 107kg on Thursday, 26 August, 2021 at the Games in Japan.

Latifat Tijani was born on the 8 November 1981.

The Nigerian powerlifter won gold medal in the women’s – 45kg event at the 2015 African Games in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.

She also competed in the women’s – 45kg event at the Rio 2016 Paralympics, where she lifted 106kg to win silver.

At the 2019 World Para Powerlifting Championships she won the bronze medal in the women’s 45 kg event.
