President Muhammad Buhari has disclosed why he appointed Major Gen. Farouk Yahaya as Chief of Army Staff.
Speaking during an interview session with Arise TV, Thursday morning.
He clarifies that the choice of Yahaya was due to his experience in fighting Boko Haram in the North East.
Recall that President Muhammad Buhari appointed Major General Farouk Yahaya as the new Chief of Army Staff on 27th May, 2021.
His appointment followed the death of the former Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru who died in the 2021 NAF Beechcraft King Air 350 plane crash near Kaduna International Airport on the 21st of May, 2021, alongside 10 other officers.
Prior to his appointment as the Chief of Army Staff, Yahaya was the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and the Theatre Commander of the Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency military outfit in North Eastern part of Nigeria code named Operation HADIN KAI.
