Why January has more than 31 days every Year
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter
By Waliu Adeyeri

Have you found yourself in a situation that you begin to wonder that January has more than 31 days? Say 35 days or 40 days.

After the first week of the month which usually runs as though it had less than 24 hours per day.

The second week moves sluggishly like a snail to the end of the month.

My friend, if such thought comes to your mind, you have got to wake from your slumber, January has just 31 long days that seem like 40 days and 40 night.

Why then does January seems longer?
Do we spend more than 24 hours in a day in January? Absolutely, ‘no’ is the answer; just like other months, a day equals to 24 hours in January.

You must have probably had a Detty December beyond what you should. The excitement of welcoming the new year had made you consumed all that you ought to save.

You read that correctly friend, you are broke, that’s why your January is longer than usual. All you need to do is patiently wait while the moment lasts.

You forgot to do these things in December:

Plan: A popular aphorism states that the one who failed to plan; plan to fail. Your excitement for the new year had made you forgot that Mid-January is watching you like “Big Brother.”

Discipline: I am convinced that you planned ahead, you have learnt how to make a budget from TheNewsBeam. Yet, you found yourself broke in January. This is because you didn’t discipline yourself. You wanted to feel among, you didn’t want to be left out amidst your age mates who earn more than you do.

Prioritise your need: I have warned several times that distinguishing your needs from your wants is the beginning of financial wisdom. Why did you satisfy your want instead of your needs in December? You can read up what I said about need and want in these two articles here and here.

Perseverance is the most important tool you must possess now if you also had a Detty December that was beyond your financial capabilities.

In conclusion, you should be aware that the one that knows how to spend lavishly must be able to persevere when there is nothing left to spend.
