A 96-year-old retired soldier, Pa Joseph Owherhi, has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Niger State.
The agency disclosed that Pa Joseph was arrested by its operatives for dealing in illicit drugs.
The retired soldier was arrested in his house at Rafin Sanyi area of Suleja on Saturday, August 21, 2021, with three kilograms of skunk based on credible intelligence.
When asked why he ventured into the business of hard drugs, he said his reason for engaging in the illicit trade was to enable him feed his eight wives and 50 children.
NDLEA‘s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Tuesday, August 24, said the suspect confessed to the crime, stating that he has been living on the illicit trade since he retired from the military in 1982.
