It appears that there has been a fatal blow in the power struggle within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), as the Director-General of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), Dr. Salihu Lukman tenders his resignation letter.
Although no clear-cut reason has been given for the resignation by the party and Lukman, it is important to note that the recent development may not be totally unrelated to the turmoil which has trailed the February National Convention of the APC.
There have been misunderstandings between the governors of the All Progressives Congress and the Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee over the party’s national convention.
Lukman and some stakeholders of the party had called for the resignation of the Governor of Yobe State, Buni, the Chairman of the Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) and other members of the committee resigns if the party cannot hold its convention in February.
