The former US President, Donald Trump, has tendered a resignation letter to the National President of the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA).
The Union which represents about 160 million professional members including, actors, journalists, musicians and other media professionals, voted to have Trump’s membership re-evaluated by a disciplinary committee.
According to the Union, the need to re-evaluate Trump’s membership was due to the incitement of the US Capitol Riot in January.
According to the National President, Gabrielle Carteris, “Donald Trump attacked the values that the union holds most sacred – democracy, truth, respect for our fellow Americans of all races and faiths, and the sanctity of the free press.”
However, before the re-evaluation of its membership by the Union, Trump tendered his apology on Thursday, February 4, 2021.

WHY DID TRUMP RESIGN?
According to CNN, “He didn’t want to be fired, so he quit.”
However in his resignation letter addressed to the National President and made public by the Union, Trump states:
“Your organization has done little for its members, and nothing for me – besides collecting dues and promoting dangerous un-American policies and ideas.”
Trump stated that the Union had not done anything for its members other than collecting dues.
The former President has also faulted the “massive unemployment rates and lawsuits from celebrated actors, who even recorded a video asking, “Why isn’t the union fighting for me?”
