Plantain, known as the bigger size of bananas, is loved by alot of people because of its sweetness.
The sweetened food which helps with bowel regulation since it’s rich in fibre, is also rich in vitamins and minerals like: vitamin A, vitamin C, magnesium and potassium.
Unlike bananas, the food is preferred boiled or fried.
In cooking this food, most people add salt to plantain whenever it wants to be boiled especially when frying in order to make it more tasty.
However, THIS IS WRONG!! because ripe plantain is naturally sweet, frying it consequencely gives you fats because of the oil used, which can in turn increase your blood pressure. So why the need for salt?
Remember that Salt on its own increases blood pressure which can lead to heart attack and strokes. Imagine adding salt on a plantain before frying it, it’s definitely unhealthy.
NOTE: An average adult only needs a teaspoon of salt daily. Reduce your salt intake for a healthy heart and kidney.
