The Honorable Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Amb. Mariam Yalwaji Katagum has advised the female gender to change old mindsets and embrace the notion that they are capable of doing what men can do.
Katagum made this known during an initiative program for the promotion of gender responsiveness in the Commodities & Export Department (CED).
As disclosed on the official twitter account of Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, FMITI, she also launched the Gender Initiative for Commodities & Export (GICE) in Abuja on the 12th of November, 2020.
Mariam Katagum stated that she is confident that the initiative would serve in the advancement of gender inclusivity. “I am confident that this initiative would serve as one of many platforms in the advancement of gender inclusivity in CED & the Ministry & I shall continue to provide relevant support within my obligation towards the success of the initiative”, she said.
“However women especially need to change old mindsets, develop their capacities and embrace the notion that they are capable of doing what men can do”, she added.
She further stated that “gender issues are cross cutting and both genders must always be willing to take advantages of opportunities that abound.”
